Extraordinary Friends
A new pilot scheme for children and adults. It is organised in partnership with Cheeverstown House, administered by Inclusion Ireland, and funded by HSE Dublin Southwest. It has two programmes, a children’s host family programme and an adult’s social programme.

Break Away
Providing family and community based short breaks to children and adults with Intellectual Disability in Dublin South West. The scheme is being reviewed and changes are imminent. The name will be changed and there will be two separate schemes; one for children and another for adults. This new initiative is likely to be finalised by 2011.

St. Michael’s House Schemes
St. Michael’s House run a number of schemes in the greater Dublin Area and surrounding counties. The Contract Family Short Break Scheme is a new initiative in St. Michael’s House. This scheme has recruited host families with experience in the area of disability, to facilitate short holiday breaks to children with enhanced needs, in the carer’s own home. Family Based Respite / Host family Scheme provides short breaks to children and adults. The breaks take place in the host family’s home. The Shared Living Scheme is all about ordinary families, who are committed to building a long term relationship and a stable home environment for a person with an Intellectual Disability.
