This is a new short-breaks host family scheme for people with a physical disability. It is run by Cheshire Ireland in the South Co. Dublin area.

Breakaway & Second Home
These are family based short break schemes for children and adults, run by Cheeverstown House. They cover Templeogue Bridge, south as far as Brittas, Co Dublin.

A new pilot scheme for children and adults. It is organised in partnership with Cheeverstown House, administered by Inclusion Ireland, and funded by HSE Dublin Southwest. It has two programmes, a children’s host family programme and an adult’s social programme.

Providing family-based respite for children in South East Dublin and North Wicklow.

Providing family and community based short breaks to children and adults with Intellectual Disability in Dublin South West. The scheme is being reviewed and changes are imminent. The name will be changed and there will be two separate schemes; one for children and another for adults. This new initiative is likely to be finalised by 2011.

St. Michael’s House Schemes
St Michaels House runs three schemes in the greater Dublin area & surrounding counties:
- Host Families – Short Breaks. Families and Individuals in the community provide short breaks to children & adults.
- Contract Family. The scheme recruits families & individuals with experience in the area of social care & disability to provide short breaks to children & adults with more enhanced care needs
- Shared Living. The scheme recruits a family or individual to provide a stable home environment on a fulltime basis to an adult.
